This information is for folks arriving after 11 pm as often we are asleep by then or shortly thereafter.

Normally I would meet you in the carport and show you all of the following but I think you can manage without me with some more details. Should you have a problem, which I doubt, you can call me at 512-560-7711, I am right next door. I’ll turn my iPhone’s DO NOT DISTURB off just in case.

We live in the historic 1925 yellow house on the northwest corner of 35th Street & Speedway, it is 3500 Speedway. The apartment is just behind it.  It is all yellow and white like the old house, except it is 80 years newer. This is 3500B Speedway, numbers are on the right column as you face the carport. Arriving in the night you will find there are lights on the columns on either side of the driveway (one on the right is above the numbers). I'll also leave some lights on above the apartment balcony and in the carport to make it easy to find. Pull into the carport underneath the apartment off of 35th Street. This is where you will park during your stay. Motion controlled lights will illuminate. The apartment entry is on your right beside the carport. The light above the apartment entry will also automatically illuminate. The code on the keypad to open the door is the last four digits of your cell phone number. It makes a fairly loud noise when it opens the deadbolt. If it does it repeatedly, the door is not tightly closed, just pull it toward you for the last “click” to align the deadbolt. After the “click” let go, and enter the numbers again. If that fails, hit the LOCK button (it’s got a lock symbol on it) to clear the memory, and try again. A few people have trouble opening the door by not twisting the passage set fully (the handle) when the door is unlocked. So be aware to do that.

DO NOT PUSH ON THE DOOR UNTIL THE LOCK IS UNLOCKED

The LOCK symbol on the keypad only locks the door, code numbers only unlock the door. If you have trouble seeing the numbers if for some reason the automatic entry light failed, just press the LOCK button and it will illuminate the keypad (bottom center button if you are fumbling in the dark). I have yet to have these lights overhead fail to work.

Congratulations, you have made it inside. Make yourself at home. Now please send me a text (512-560-7711) so I won’t worry about you when I check my phone during the night Our Border Collies & Dalmatian usually want an outside break (or a hug from me) in the middle of the night at least once.

Please sign the Rental Agreement (READ link here), it is on the table when you enter. I need this for our records and insurance purposes. Thank you. You may leave it under the corner of the doormat in the morning when you leave for the day and I’ll find it.

Next, turn off the balcony lights I left on for you. There is a remote on the side of the refrigerator to turn off the balcony lights. Read more about the lights and controlling them on the iPad on the coffee table.

There is fresh ground coffee and a selection of teas (in the drawer under the coffee maker) and some milk to get you started in the morning.

I am giving it to you now so you can skim it in advance. It has everything generally guests want to know (TV, Sonos, Apple HomePod minis, Amazon Echo Dot, Google Nest Hub, etc.), and probably more information than you want too. If you are new to Austin, most of the books & periodicals in the cabinet & coffee table near the TV are related to Austin and Texas in general.

TAXI from the austin airport: The cost should be about $30-50 without tip.

It is about 20-25 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. Ask to be taken to 3500 Speedway, north of the University of Texas. Pull up along W. 35th Street to the foot of the driveway; the garage apartment faces 35th Street (behind our 1927 house on the corner). The carport has 3500B vertically on the right column, and the apartment door is next to it. There is no parking on Speedway.

REMEMBER: if you just put 3500 SPEEDWAY in your phone for directions, you’ll likely end up in front of our house and think you are lost. Just turn the corner onto 35th, the apartment is behind our house facing 35th.
