Our Synology router’s wifi mesh network support up to Wi-Fi 6 (and below) is created from an Google Fiber connection that comes underground to the property. It is optimized to automatically put your devices on the very fast 6Ghz or 5Ghz bands first, but will move it to the 2.4Ghz band if that isn’t optimal. If you need to be hardwired, we have a long Ethernet cable available on the shelf near the TV. This cable will give you truly fast synchronous speeds, typically ~900Mbps down/up.

NEWSPAPER: The New York Times app on this iPad will give you full access to the paper

The TV can receive all local HD broadcasts (over the air, only our most used are listed below).

Apple TV 4K has all of the apps that we are subscribed. The Apple TV+ app is also available on the Sony TV’s list of apps and should be logged into our account under the Gallery House profile. If you wish to log into your own accounts on other apps, please do this on the Sony TV’s apps.

Apple TV requires changing the TV INPUT to HDMI 4. Pressing on the Apple remote should make the TV automatically switch to this input. If you wish to buy movies etc. log into to your iTunes account. You will see the movies I have purchased (more than 400) in the LIBRARY of the Apple TV APP (green icon, upper right). You’ll have to click on Family Sharing, and Rice Jackson’s account to see the full collection.

YouTube TV, Netflix, Max (formerly HBO), Disney+, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Curiosity Stream can be streamed from the the Apple TV 4K. Many of these can be viewed as well directly from the Sony native “Google TV” operating system apps as well. These are accessed with the Sony remote control. The 50” Sony X90J 4K HDR tv was installed 5/26/2021.

From time to time, some of the app updates break the login settings of these streaming apps. If one isn’t working, please tell Rice and he’ll be happy to fix it for you.

NOTE: The wall outlet just below the counter by the convection oven/microwave has two USB-A ports.  No transformer adapters are needed for this plug.  A round power strip is at the foot of the couch (closest to the TV), press the center button to turn on the USB plugs. Also, there are USB plugs on the end of the white power strip on the shelf beside the bed. Lastly, there is a USB port on the right side of the white lamp on the stainless steel table.

AUDIO:

You can send audio and images to the “Gallery House Apple TV” which will play through the Sony 4K TV via AirPlay and the Apple TV 4K.

The SONOS app on this iPad will let you play music from most other streaming services that you may subscribe to. Apple Music will play by just asking “Alexa, play the Beatles (or whatever) from Apple Music. The default speakers are the Sonos system. Pandora is free (with ads) and is configured already on the iPad. Be sure to choose the GALLERY HOUSE speakers and no other, or your music selection will play in our house next door! The two Apple HomePod minis are a stereo pair (not connected to the TV) and can fill the room with music too. TIP: start whatever you want to play on an iPhone and then hold it over the left HomePod mini for a few seconds, and the audio should begin playing through the two HomePod minis.
